WACO, TX—Ubcmusic, of University Baptist Church, will be releasing their Magnificat EP on Friday, November 27th. This is the band’s first self-produced project, recorded at the church and in home studios in August of 2020. Magnificat EP includes five original songs written during the Advent seasons of the past few years, drawing inspiration particularly from the prophets, as well as the songs of Zechariah and Mary in Luke 1. As such, the songs explore themes of longing, desperation, and hope-against-hope. Ubcmusic is led by Jameson McGregor, and features Colton Towns on the drums, Andy Clark and Jack Parker on bass, as well as Byron Griffin on guitar. The EP was mixed by Ryan Higgs and mastered by Michael Curtis of Movement Mastering. The opening track, Brightest, is available in JFH’s Free Indie Downloads section.
