Six Days is a sevenpiece southern rock-flavored worship group that spawned from their church's worship team in New Braunfels, Texas. The members of Six Days wanted to branch off and write some songs of their own, and after traveling to other nearby towns for recording and production purposes, they now have their own album called I Believe. The songs presented aren't too different from the standard worship band spiel, but do have a definite southern flair added in, with a good mix of both faster songs (ie, "I Believe") and slower ones as well (ie, "You're All I Need"). The music of I Believe is decently-written at its best; between the music, vocals and lyrics, the music is the strongest. There's nothing about it that really sticks out all too well (except the surprising, yet enjoyable, guitar solo in the title track), but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't good at all. The lyrics are worshipful, but they're mostly just overly cliche. "Miracles" suffers greatly from that, being somewhat of a list of things that God has done. "Rise Up" is full of lyrics I've heard in countless other songs (its chorus says "Rise up, celebrate, raise your voice, holy Father loving God, Lord we celebrate Your name, come on celebrate, raise Your hands, precious Father living God, holy holy is Your name"). True, God's name is to be celebrated, but I'm sure Six Days could have found a new way of verbalizing it. So it's in the lyrics that we find the major weakness of I Believe. Coupled with Shannon Schwarz's flat vocals, we see lots of room for improvement. I can chalk it up to inexperience, as it's only their first release with their own songs, but they need some definite improvement for future releases.
