How To Start A Fire

The Chris Carrabba-fronted Further Seems Forever carried an emo-fueled sound and left many questions about the band's future when he left. Jason Gleason entered the picture, however, and the band released their best album. Many fans hold true to Carrabba, and many others prefer the late Jon Bunch, but Gleason's lone album with the band is undeniable. "How to Start a Fire" opens with more power and aggression than anything on The Moon is Down, and I immediately fell in love. The title track opener leads into an album best on "The Sound." While songs like "I Am" definitely have an emo feel, the album as a whole shifts away from the "Snowbirds and Townies" sound of The Moon is Down. "On Legendary" and "The Deep" help to round out an absolutely phenomenal album. I think this one may get overlooked a lot when thinking about Further Seems Forever, but it just makes me want another Jason Gleason-led album oh so badly. I'm so happy to see this one make the top 20!
