Fifteen is the album that you can either blast while riding down the road in your car, or jam to while at your next bonfire or cookout. Green River Ordinance's Fifteen is an album that is about celebration and remembering where you came from. From the ringing out of the electric guitars in the opening track, to breaking out the the banjo during the second track (and a handful of other tracks), to simple acoustic guitar in the rest of the album; country/folk Texan natives, Green River Ordinance, celebrates their fifteenth year as a band with their fourth album release.
From Fifteen's opening track, "Keep Your Cool," and throughout the 11-track piece, the listener is reminded, somehow, in some fashion, to always stick to their roots, to remember to take a step back once in a while and breathe, to remember where you're from. It's tough, nowadays, to find a solid band, with a solid fresh release, that has such a simple yet powerful reminder. Fifteen is an album for all people; whether you're a fan of country music or folk music, or a fan of neither genre, you're liable to find something to like here.
For those of you who are a fan of easy listening music, the music on this record isn't too rough and loud, not is it quiet to the point where you think you'll fall asleep listening. Green River Ordinance's celebration album is one of those albums that lands right in the sweet spot. (The band's entire discography hits right in the sweet spot, but especially Fifteen.) This five piece Texas band has a way of wrapping sweet love songs with feel good music, and that's what makes them stand out from the other artists and bands like them.
