If you are someone who may be trying out Christian music for the first time, or if you enjoy any kind of music, the best way that I can describe Caedmon's Call's 40 Acres is by telling you that they are a mellower version of Barenaked Ladies. I really enjoyed the instruments on this CD, especially what I believe to be a 'leslie' in songs like "Climb-on."
The first selection, "There You Go" was a good choice to put first. The beat was catchy and it held my interest! I didn't like the next song, though, because it sounded too country-ish, but if you're into that style, that's cool.
The songs I really enjoyed were "Shifting Sand," "Table For Two," "Somewhere North," and "Petrified Heart." "Petrified Heart" also reminds me of a Third Day type of song (this is a good thing... I like Third Day very much!), but it had sort of an Irish twist to it.
All in all, the CD was much needed for the trials that I have been going through these past 2 weeks, and I recommend it to anyone else feeling the pressures of the end of the semester (or school year, or just every day life!). God is so good, just cast your cares upon Him, and watch what He does with them!
